Staff & Volunteering

Opportunities abound for individuals and church groups to support the ministry of Camp Kanesatake through staffing and volunteer opportunities.

Each summer we employ many college age students from June through August as summer staff serving as both cabin counselors and support staff (kitchen and operational staff). Camp Runs from June 24th to August 7th.

There is opportunity for teenagers to participate in the summer staff experience for two weeks during the summer with our Leadership Camp (July 15-27).

Volunteers

Camp K welcomes volunteers and is appreciative of their ministry. We want to put people in areas where God has gifted them and match them with appropriate projects and areas of ministry that will benefit the volunteer and Camp K for the glory of God.

We have a few ways that people can volunteer at Camp K:

The first, and one of the most needed ways, is at our workdays. We will have a workday on June 2nd from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM to finish preparing for the camping season, and a workday on September 1st from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM to clean up everything from the camping season and get it ready for next year! Lunch will be provided and we'll have a great time working together!

Second, people can volunteer during the week of camp. Where the volunteer will be placed will depend upon what is needed that week, and where the individual is skilled. Most likely, they will be paired up with one of our full-time staff for the entire week. Please note that there is a $50 charge to help cover the costs of food and background checks.

If you feel led to volunteer this summer at Camp K, please fill out a volunteerapplication2012.pdf and send it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or Camp K Volunteers, 2020 Cato Avenue, State College, PA 16801.

Summer Staff

Working at camp is not just a chance to serve the Lord with your time.  Staff members also:

  • Develop skills in leadership, teamwork, problem solving/conflict resolution, communication, time management, and supervision
  • Learn more about themselves and their strengths
  • Grow in their faith
  • Experience the joys of living in a Christian community in the midst of God’s beautiful creation

Working at Camp Kanesatake is an opportunity for an exciting, challenging, and rewarding summer!

God used my experience of working at Camp K over the past summer to show me how He has a unique plan for my life. I was able to be an example to kids each week and pour into their lives out of the blessings that God has given me.
Matt Litzinger, Summer Staff 2009/2010

Each summer, about 30 people are hired to serve at Camp Kanesatake as either counselors or operational staff. These staff members enable camp to run smoothly while serving campers and volunteers.  If you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, desire to serve God, enjoy working with youth, and are willing to be a leader, you are probably a great prospect for one of our summer teams!  Please fill our our online application!

Positions are generally for people 18 years of age and older, unless otherwise specified.
