Summer Partner Program

A Mission Trip in Pennsylvania?

In Jesus’ day, feet were disgusting, unsanitary things. Jesus showed his servant heart by washing his disciple’s feet. Today our feet aren’t quite as disgusting, but body functions remain the same and cleaning a bathroom is a task requiring the same kind of humility Jesus showed.

The staff who choose to serve at camp during the summer realize their duties are sometimes fun and exciting – like running an activity or sharing the Gospel with a camper. They also perform less glamorous jobs that take the humility of Jesus to accomplish – like cleaning bathrooms, bussing tables, or cleaning up after a cabin of muddy campers has come past.

Who are the Partners?

Any business, church, individual, or organization can become a supporting partner. A partner shares in a staff member’s ministry by providing regular prayers for God to uphold him/her and some of the funds to pay him/her. Most of our summer staff are high school or college students who give 9 weeks of their summer in ministry serving campers and guests at Camp Kanesatake.
Why is it a Partnership? The summer staff member and supporting partner “are laborers together with God” (I Corinthians 3:9a). As a participant in the Summer Partner Program, you will receive personal letters from your staff member throughout the summer. These letters will give you the details to assist you in praying more earnestly for your staff partner as s/he encounters joys, surprises, and challenges.

How does it work?

In the same way that a missionary serving the Lord in another country would raise their own support, as our summer staff serve the Lord, we are asking them to raise some of their own support. Camper fees are kept as low as possible to ensure every child or teen who wants to attend is able to do so. The Summer Partner Program helps Camp Kanesatake pay summer staff an amount closer to their value than what we would otherwise be able to afford.

Each staff member receives a ministry stipend, meals, housing, and insurance coverage. We ask each staff member to set a goal to raise up to $1500 for his/her salary.

Who selects the staff member for each Partner?

If someone you know is going to be a summer staff member, you can support that person specifically. Otherwise, Camp Kanesatake will assign a staff member to you. If you wish to give anonymously, Camp Kanesatake will honor your request.

What else do I need to know?

Whether you give individually or as part of a group, one thing is certain – you are investing in the life of a young person who is serving the Lord in a special ministry. The staff member is part of a team that serves over 700 campers every summer. What a way to influence our culture!

How do I give?

You can choose to give your gift all at once, or as installments throughout the summer. When summer staff members exceed their support goal, you will be informed and will have the option to support another staff member. If you wish to contribute by using your credit/ debit card, we accept VISA and MasterCard. (All donations are tax-deductible.)
