We are starting 2021 very encouraged here at Camp Kanesatake! I had a chance to meet with so many of you, our friends, here at the end of 2020, and I want to tell you about the return on the investment that you made here at Camp.
Friends, you have invested in the facility as we continue to renovate cabins. Also investments were made in our scholarship fund to see underprivileged children come to a week of camp. Still more investments were made in the Burns family as you prayed for and comforted them and us in Matt’s homegoing.
As we enter this new year, there are a lot of unknowns for Camp K. We honestly have more questions than answers. How are we going to finish our cabin projects without our friend and maintenance director, Matt? How do we continue to care for Emily and the children? Who does God want to come and pick up the torch? As these questions are asked, we are reminded of James 1:5, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” Even with our questions, we have seen God be faithful to the Burns family, to the Camp, and to us as our hearts are comforted during this time. God has brought along individuals and families to meet the needs and bring joy and hope back to our hearts and minds. Many times you may wonder if it actually matters and if you really make a difference in others’ lives. You do! You made a difference in the lives of all of these people that stepped on our campsite in 2020, to the Burns family, and the Camp K family during this difficult season.
In 2021 we are making plans to continue to put those investments to use in the lives of many more families, churches, and children. We are starting into our winter camp weekends in February, and we will be holding retreats and events throughout the spring. At Camp Kanesatake we are excited as we look towards the summer and the opportunity to have a rebuilding year. We hope to see many campers that were not able to join us last summer! As we know from this past year, we do not know what tomorrow holds, but I am grateful that we can say, “We know who holds tomorrow!”
Thank you for your continued prayers and support as we navigate these uncertain times. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you soon!
